KILLED BY A FIRE ENGINE
A WELLINGTON ACCIDENT. (By Telegraph.—Pkess Association.) WELLINGTON, This day. ' A shocking accident occurred last evening. A motor engine was going to a tire, and rounding the corner from Lambton ( t >uay to Bowen-street, knocked down Mrs wife of tiie Under-Secretary for Lands, and killed her instantly. Two daughters were with her, and Miss Louisa hr.d her left kg fractured, but the other escaped. Tliose on the engine state that they were going at an excessive speed and rang the bell, but the ladies, who got Hurried, dodged to and fro, and before the engine could be stoppod, though ifa was pul'ed up smartly, it was upon them. The brakes were on before the accident occurred. 1
