DEFAMATION OF CHARACTER.
DAMAGES AGAINST A JOURNALIST. PARIS, December 9. M. Henri Rochefort, the wellknown journalist and politician, has been lined £BOO on a charge of defaming Madame Syveton in connection with the death of her husband, who created a sensation in the latter part of last year by striking General Andre, then Minister for War, on the floor of the Chamber of Deputies.
