SHOT BY A BURGLAR.
♦ THE MURDERER ARRESTED. LONDON, November 5. Albert Smith, cashier at Messrs Thomas Cook and Sons' tourist branch at Nottingham, was shot dead while locking the safe in the office. His assailant escaped without the booty. William Sanday, a petty officer in the merchant service, was subsequent* ly arrested, and has confessed to the murder.
