CONCERT AT PUKERIAMU.

A very enjoyable concert was held in the Pukerimu school-room on Wednesday evening last, the proceeds being in aid of the funds for the Wesleyan and Presbyterian Churches, The Rev. W. 'Evans presided, and the Rev. H. J. Simmonds acted as musical conductor in the choruses, which were all excellently rendered by his singing class, The night was fine, and there was a fair attendance, the class, whibh is a large one, alone counting about half the number present. The following is the programe, which was heßotiatei in a style that does great credit to the performers Pianoforte solo,' 'Carnival de Venice," Miss Sturgess; chorus, "Come and Join in Sweet Harmonic Union"; song, "The Broken Pitcher," Miss Roberts; chorus, "The Postman"; duet, "At Eventide," Mr and Miss Caley; chorus, "Merry, Merry Laughing May;song, " When the Lights ara Low," Miss Simmonds; chorus, "Happy is the Hunter's Life "{reading, "The Parson and the Clerk," Mr R. Caley; chorus, " The Mountaineer's Song " j song, "Gathering. Shells," Miss Southgate; chorus, "A Morning Song "; violin and pianoforte' solo, "Scotch Airs," Master and Miss Simmonds; chorus, "Grant, we Beseech Thee." This being the last item on the programme, the Chairman complimented the performers on, the efficient manner in.which they had carried out the programme; and said Mr Simmonds deserved no small medeof praise for'the way he had taught ; his class, as all the choruses were rendered with splendid effect. Refreshments were,then handed round, and when these had been done justice to the room was cleared and dancing indulged in till an early hour.'
