GENERAL ASSEMBLY.
LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL. WEDNESDAY. The Council met at 2.30 p.m. The Native, Affairs Committee recommended that the Anns Act Repe d Bill be not allowed to (roced, the reason being that it was not required, as virtually the present Act was suspended by tho Uover-nor-in-Council, The Wesleyan Methodist Cili parsed its final stages, as also did the Bankruptcy niii. Mr Stewart resumed the debate on the Electoral Bill. He warmly supported wnmin franchise. Mr Reynolds also support d the Bill generally, but considered any citizen from home on the day ot an election should be able to vote the same as sailors. Messrs Morris and Hirt opposed the Bill en the ground that the constituencies had not been appealed to. Messrs Bjrniciat and Pollen supported the Bill, and Mr Taiaroa expressed the opinion that all native women, including half-castes, should possess the franchise. The second reading was agreed to on the voices.
