ACCIDENT ON FALLON'S CONTRACT.

By Saturday's train two men name i Gardiner and Stewart were conveyed to Auckland having come in from Lichfield suffering from injuries received on the railway works in connection with Mr Fallon's contract on the Rotorua jine. The man Gardiner is woil-known in Waikato. he was formerly a sergeant in the K. V. M.'s and wasptationed for some time at Taupiri, S lice the disbandmeiit of that force he has been almost continuously in the employ of Mr Fallon, being one of his most trusted and valued foreman. We are sorry to say he has received a severe injmy to his back and ribs, the exact nature of whici could not bo determined. Stewart's injuries were not so seiious, though one of his ancles had been considerably lacerated. The accident was, we understand, caused by a run-away truck. Several of thb injured men's mates accompanied them, and every care was taken to relieve them as much as possible 011 their way to Auckland.
