TE AWAMUTU.
Towx Imi'iiovksiknts. — I gladly ii"te that the To Awamutu Town Board, of which iiur worthy settler Mr Walton is chairman, has shown signs of progress lately. They have considerably widened the pathway between Te Awamutu and the railway station. Formerly onlv one person could, with comfort, walk on it, on account of its narrowness. This path has also been recently covered with sand. The footways in various parts 'if the town district have also been gravelled. I observe, with satisfaction, that the somewhat dangerous quapmire on tho Te Awamutu-Kihikihi road, near Mr John Mandeno's farm, has been fascined. Tim wis an urgent want, and the Wnipa County Council deserve commendation for having attended to it. I see, with pleasure, other evidence of progress in Ttf Awairutu, though the improvements in these cases are not made by public bodies. Our enterprising townsmen Messrs Walton, Graham an 1 Coulthard, of the Te Awa'iiutu Roller Mill, have built a large and convenient store for grain near the mill. This building was much required by the lirni for the purpose of their extensivo and increasing business. From the interior of this slore, which is well filled with sacks of wheat from floor to roof-tree, one could easily prove that there was stili corn in the Waikato, the strikes notwithstanding. I note, also, that our go-ahead fellow settler Mr W. Thompson has yist had erected a neat little store for his seed and manure business mini his allotment near the le Awamntu Library. Although the building is small, it has been wall built by Mr .Mandeuo, whose ability as a tradnsman i-i well-known. These marks of progress are worthy of notice, and supply proof, il that is required, that people here have not lost faith in the future ot the place.
