THE SALVATION ARMY.

A VEitY large number of people assembled at the Public Hall, Hamilton West, on Saturday evening lust to hear the Salvation Army, when Oapt. Cutler, as was announced, gave an excellent address on "The Salvation Army: Its origin, doctrines and progress," and pointed out the work of the Army in a very clear manner. On Sunday evening the meeting was again held in the Public Hall, when the place was crowded, upwards of 400 people being present. The meeting was conducted in the usual way, and at its conclusion, three souls '' Wept their way to Calvary." From all appearauces, the Army in Hamilton is doing a, vast amount of good, for their numbers continue to swell every day, and on Sunday evening auout sixty soldiers were on the platform, willing and able to testify to the people what the Lord had done for them. It is hardly a matter of surprise that so many have joined the Army in such a short time, but when they are under so able and energetic officers as they have in Hamilton it is no wonder that they succeed. To-night (Tuesday) the enrollment of members will take placo in the barracks, Hood-street, after which there will be a coffeo supper for the soldiers and Christian sympathisers, it was intended to make the first "cavalry attack on the outlying districts this week, commencing at Ngaruawahia to-morrow evening, but it has been decided to postpone the visit to that place till next week,
