ALEXANDRA.

Public Mekting.—A public meeting was held in the hall here, on Monday evening last, for the purpose of electing a new managing committee of the Public Hall tor the next ensuing twelve months. Mr J. C. Ogilvie was called to the chair, and read the balance sheet of the outgoing committee which was a very satisfactory one, considering the improvements which have been made to the building, a sum of I3s lid remaining to credit. Mr Sinden seconded by J. A. Sage proposed that the balance sheet be adopted, and a vote of thanks to the late committee for their services, which was carried unanimously. The meeting tnen proceeded to elect the new committee, when the following gentlemen were duly elected for the office viz.—Messrs J. O. Ogilvie, A. Smith, G. Miles, junior, J. A. Sage and G. Harper. A vote of thanks to the chairman terminated the proceedings. At a subsequent meeting of the committee, Mr A. Smith was chosen chairman, aud Mr J. C. Osjilvie Hon. Sec. and Treasurer. Manganesk.—A report has been receiver] from the analyist that the mineral discovered on the Alexandra-Kawhia road, contains a large per centage of Manganese.
