ROBBERY & MURDER.
(by teleuraph.—niKss association , .) Wklmniston, .Monday. A cash of robbery and attempted iiimdor has boon reported to tlio police. The victim is Frank Cousins, a bookmaker, whose story is that on Saturday morning lie took a sum of money in notes from a box in liis bedroom, purposing paying s»>mo bills, as ho was to i,o marr'nid to-day and loavo for Melbourne. Ho was transacting this business on Saturday and yesterday. Last night between ten and eleven o'clock, as he was returning liome across the veclaimed ground, and when at the back of the Opera House be was seized by two men, who, he alleges, were shepherding him during the day. ITo was thrown violently to the ground, and lost tvnsciousness. When lm regained consciousness he found himself in the water near the breastwork, with ii wound in his throat. Bain;; used to the water and a good swimmi-r, he succeeded in gaining the shore, and remember* nothing more till he reached his home. lie says he would be able to identify one of hi? assailants. The money taken frmn his pockets ho states amounts to £120. The wound in his throat is not serious.
