HAMILTON BOROUGH COUNCIL.

Tin: usual monthly meeting of the council was held last night. Present: —His Worship the Mayor, Cr.->. Cochrnno, Bindley, McDonald, Tippon and Johnson. — The Secretary to the Treasury wrote, forwarding the sixty-seven cancelled debentuie-. (with coupons attached) for £100 each, issued by the borough in regard to the bridge loan, since paid off by Parliamentary grant. — The Undoi -Secretary for Public Workrf wrote in answer to a letter from the council, intimating tnat instructions have been given for the river-bed at the biidgesitetobe examined and leported upon. — The Secretaiy to the Treasury wiotc informing the council that the sum of £32Gslld, rates on Crown Lands within the boiough, had been placed to the credit of the borough at the Bank of New Zealand, Hamilton. — The Foreman of Works reported that certain small necessary 1 epairs to drains, &c, had been executed. He also lepoiied that slight repairs were needed at Bradley's bridge. The report was lef erred to the Works Committee, with power to act. — The Town Clerk was instructed to write to Mr F. A. Whitaker re the £110 award. — The Town Clerk was instructed to write to the Colonial Secretary to see if a Crown grant will be issued for the reserve Lot 417, Hamilton East, vested in the corporation. — On the motion of Cr. Tippen, it was agreed that new storm burners be obtained for the street lamps in the borough. — Accounts amounting to £2 Is 8d were passed for payment, and the council rose.

Messrs Sandcs and Napper invite tenders for tho supply Pf finger-P9?ts for various parts of Waipa nnd Waikafp. Tenders to be in by the 19tb mst. Messrs Sandes and Napper givo notipe that traffic is stopped across Crawfords gully, pending alterations. MrJohnKrcK will sell at Hamilton on the 13th inst,, in the bankrupt estate of Wm Canminff, household furniture, brewery plant, horses, buggy, harness, &c. Full particulars in next issue. The Assessment Court for the Borough of Hamilton will be held at the court-house, at 9.30 a.m., on the 20th inst. A reward for the recovery of cattle is offered by Mr Trcwin, of Te Awamutu.
