TE AWAMUTU.

The usual monthly meeting of the Ran* giaohia Road Board, -was held at Lewis's Hotel on Friday last, the 24th inst, at which all the Trustees were present. After the minutes of the last meeting had been read and confirmed, the following business was transacted. A telegram was read from Mr Whitaker M.H.R., stating that he had not been able to get a definite answer as to the completion of the Station road by the Government, but would communicate the moment he received it. Resolved that Mr Whitaker should be again written to if a favorable reply was not received within a fortnight as the Government had promised to metal the road before they hand it over. New tenders had been received for alterations to the Rangiaohia Bush road bridge and out of four ranging from £34 to £12 158 the lowest had been accepted as arranged at the last meeting. A notice from the Treasury was read stating that the subsidy to the district for the year ending 3 1st Msirch next had been paid to the credit of the Board. Copies of Correspondence between the Chairman of the late Board, and the Chief Commissioner of the Crown Lands Board, were read in reference to the sale of Lot 54a. near Lake Ngaroto and as there was now a Railway fetation near the place and the Lake was becoming a public resort, it was resolved to ask the Board to reserve the land as a public recreation ground. The two bush reserves in the district having been gazetted as temporary reserves, it was decided to ask the Chief Surveyor to have the boundaries defined to prevent their being encroached upon, by adjoining owners. In reference to the application of Mr Cundey, to have a road stopped which commenced and ended on his land, it was determined to take the necessary steps to stop siime, on his undertaking to pay all expenses connected therewith. The Secretary of the late Board, was ordered to be written to for the Map of the District which had not been given up with the other papers. The time having arrived for making the new valuation, Mr S'bley the Secretary and Collector to the Beard, was appointed Valuer. Tenders wore ordered to be called for certain improvements and repairs on the Ohaupo Alexandra road. Accounts amounting to £42, were ordered to bo pud and there being no other business of importance, the meetinz clo.->ed.
