RAGLAN.

Christmas has again come round and gone, and indeed it has been a very dull one this year, but chiefly on account of the very boisterous windy and showery weather, we have been getting lately. There were no sports of any kind to enliven the holidays. There is a talk of some sports and boat racing on New Year's Day, but of that you will recefre an account when they come off. Tho Church of England has been closed up now fur the last three Sundays, and also en Christmas Day, by the person at present holding the grOHnd on which the building stands having locked up the entrance to it, and denying admission ; it is come to a pretty pass when people are to be shut out from the privilege of attending public worship in their own church, and especially when such is done by a so-called religious man, but it is hoped that ere long the Bishop of the Diocese Tvill be able to put a atop to such unjustifiable impertinence. During this year, there have been three marriages, fourteen births, and tyro deaths in this district, and it i* generally reported that there are four or five marriages on the tapis, which will shortly take place. Mr Hunter held a large cattle sale last Tuesday at Okete, which was well attended. —Correspondent.
