WOMEN’S INSTITUTES
WAKARARA BRANCH Wakarara is to have its Women’s Institute. At a meeting attejided by Miss Jull, pire'Sijdjent. of the Waipawa Institute, amd Airis D. Campbell, of Pukehou, the organisation was duly launched with a membership of eleven to start with. Mrs G. W. Bainbridge was elected president and Miss E. Laugesen secrietairy. Meetings willbe held at the school. .Mrs Preston, secretary of hhe Waipawa branch, will attend the next meeting and speak on the Plwnket movement. WIMBLEDON-HERBERTVILLE Thle Witmblicdon-Herbertville Women’s Institute held their meeting recently. Mrs Speedy presided over -a good attendance of members. Mrs Filshelr read a teplori on the federation meeting held at Makotuku. Mrs Anderson, Dannevtirke, gave a demonstration on hat-blockipg, wool mops, and cellophane belts, and was accorded a vote of thanks. Mi's Hampton came first in the home-made toys for the children’s Christmas tree, and in the nut loaf competition Mrs Pope came first land Airs G. Herbelrt second. The hostesses were Mrs Speedy, Mrs G. Herbert, and Mrs Beamsley.
