The death occurred in Hastings ok r Saturday of Mr William Conway, aged 83 years.

Mir J. H. Rickard, who passed away at' the Napier Hospital on Friday, arrived from England at the age of five years and has be'en a. resident of Napier ever since. He was a member of the Napier Garrison Band, the Napier City Band, and the Napier Guards.

Mr Edmond. Gabi'tes, of Hastings,, whose death occurred last week, was borto in OamaJru forty-nine years ago, and was a descendant of a long' line of well-known Yorkshire master drapers. He was educated in Oamaru,. and pursued, his business career there and ih Christchurch. He spent some time in London ajnd the provinces gaining experience in his business.

The chairman of the Waipawa Hospital Board. (Mr W. H. Rathbone) and .the managing-secretary (Mr P. R. iSmyrk) have returned <tk> Central Hawke’s Bay after a tour, with Dr R. (A. Shofre, Director of the Division of ,Hospitals, of hospital boards in the Thames and Bay of Plenty districts. The tour was in connection with the establishment of T.B. clinics.

Mr H. W. Gallagher, who has been for many years on the staff of the Waipawa Post Office, and has been latterly holding the position of supervisor, has received notice of his transfer to Tana dale. Mr Gallagher has always been a very- popular officer and hits departure from Waipawa will be greatly regretted, although his many friends • join in wishing Kim “every success in his new sphere. Mr Gallagher has also been a very prominent member of the Manchester Unity Lodge of Oddfellows, being a past officer, a mefnber of the management committee, and for some years holding the office of lec- . ture-Tnaster.
