Waipukurau Club SECOND ANNUAL MEETING SATISFACTORY FINANCES The second annual meeting of the Waipukurau Homing Pigeon Club was held on Saturday evening, Mr. H. B. Smart, president, presiding over a large attendance. President’s Remarks. In his annual report the president said that the year commenced with a credit of £4 8/7 and ended with a credit of £l5 16/11. The financial position was thus very satisfactory and reflected great credit on the club, and in particular, the secretary. The races through the year were in most cases well flown, some good times being put up. The aggregate points were as follow: Old birds: F. Fryer 26, C. A. Stowe 17, E. Begley 16. Young birds: F. J. Fraser 13, B. Hislop 12, D. Stowe 10. Boys: L. J. Fraser 12, Spencer Bros. 9, H. D. Denne 8. Three bird and interval: H. Denne 5, B. Hislop 3, C. Wood 3. Although the club had not been long in existence, it had made most satisfactory progress from all points of view, and 'members might well be congratulated; The balance-sheet showed a credit of £l5 16/11. . The report and balance-sheet were adopted. Tribute to Secretary. The president and other members paid an enthusiastic tribute to the secretary (Mr. F. J. Fraser), whose work had been of great value to the club. He was voted a small honorarium. New’ Members. The following new members were elected: Messrs. R. C. Gardiner, Lucas, J. C. Denne, and P. Mason. Election of Officers. The election of officers resulted: — Patron, Mr. I. W. N. Mackie; president, Mr. H. B. Smart; vice-presidents, Messrs. C. L. Crooks, R. O. Bousfieid, G Stapleton, A. W. Guy, C. A. Stowe, J. Skidmore, B. Hislop and C. Wood; racing committeee, Messrs. R. Guy, T. Spencer, J. Skidmore, B. Hislop and C. Stowe; clock committee, Messrs. T. Spencer, F. Lucas and C. Wood; hamper attendant, Mr. B. Hislop. Mr. G. H. Wood was unanimously elected the first honorary member of the club . ? Presentation of Trophies. Trophies, as follow, were presented: — Club championship challenge cup, for most points in old bird races: Mr. F. Fryer. Three Bird Picton Race: Mr. E. Begley. Culverden Race: Mr. F. Fryer. . Mr. Skidmore’s cup for furthest race from South Island: Mr. C. A. Stowe. Mr Crooks’s trophy, most points in young bird races: Mr. F. J. Fraser. Mr. Salter’s cup, most points in three bird and interval races fur young birds: Master H. M. Denne;. Mr. R. Shand’s trophy for Picton race: Messrs T. Spencer and D. Stowe. Mr. Smart’s trophy for juvenile races: Master L. Fraser. Boys’ trophy for first juvenile race flown: Master L. Fraser. A vote of thanks was passed to Mr Wood for his donation of a handsome challenge trophy for the owner securing most points in old bird races, the cup to be won twice in succession or three times at intervals. It was decided to present Mi' Fryer, as the first winner, with a miniature. Club Expenses. It w’as moved by Mr. C. Wood that the amount deducted from entrance money for club expenses be reduced fi'om 20 per cent, to 10 per cent, for North Island races and 5 per cent, for South Island races. After discussion the motion was put to the meeting and lost. «
