PLAY IN ENGLAND INDIA v. LEICESTER LONDON, August 22. India in the first innings lost eight wickets for 412 runs (dec.). Leicester in the first innings were all out for 106—Nayudu five wickets for 21 runs. Leicester followed on and lost two for 91. PROFESSIONAL FOR HASTINGS The Hastings Cricket Sub-Associa-tion has decided to engage a professional coach for a portion of the coming season, and after considering various suggested players, the association has agreed upon Bert Lambert, of Wellington. Lambert, who is a stylish batsman, will be engaged for at least one month as from November 1. A subscription list has been opened, and the question of extending the engagement will depend on what support is given by way of donations to the proposal.
