BURMESE REBELS
70 SENTENCED TO DEATH AWARDS FOR BRITISH OFFICERS By Telegraph. —Copyright—Press Assn. CALCUTTA, Last Night. Seventy Burmese rebels were sentenced to death and 22 to life transportation by a special tribunal at Thayetmyo. Two British officers of Indian Burmese regiments have been awarded the D.S.O. and five officers the M.C. for service in the suppression of the rebellion. Amazing figures have been issued revealing nearly GOO murders in the province in the past five months. Fifteen were traced to rebels.
