ACCIDENTALLY SHOT

A LEVIN VICTIM A shooting accident occurred about mid-day yesterday on the Papaitonga estate, Muhunoa West, Levin, resulting in serious injuries, which terminated fatally, to Mr. Jack Murray, aged about 21, second son of Mrs. and the late Mr. J. Hammond Murray. He and his brother David (Hammond) had been working in the bush, cutting a track for the stock down to Lake Papaitonga (Buller’s) and were returning home for lunch, carrying tools with them, David also carrying a shot-gun. Jack was walking a few feet in front, when by some means the discharge of the gun occurred, the contents being dodged in his back above the hip. , Assistance was rendered by a neighbour, Mr. W. Whiley, and Dr. Thompson was summoned, who gave first aid, after which the injured man was taken in to the Levin private hospital. An operation, involving blood transfur. wac in progress, during the after... cn, bat the patient never rallied and passed away during the evening.
Much, sympathy will be extended in the loss of her son to Mrs. Murray, ■who is a daughter of the late Mr. JJavid ■ Buick? M.P., of Cloverlea.
