Scant Attention
It is very evident that the warning given by Superintendent D. J. Cummings, that people who abuse the temporary constables or pass disparaging remarks at them, will be dealt with in the courts has had a salutary effect (says the Christchurch Sun). Temporary constables on duty at night report that they no longer encounter individuals who address some uncomplimentary epithet at them from a distance or when passing on bicycles. They have even ceased to be subjects for curiosity, people passing them without notice.
