WOMEN’S INSTITUTE
<g> THE OTANE BRANCH DEMONSTRATION AND CHARADE From Our Own Correspondent) The monthly meeting of the local branch of the Women's Institute was held on Friday afternoon, the president, Mrs. R. H. Tod, presiding over an attendance of 4 5 members. After the business was disposed of afternoon tea was dispensed by the hostesses, Mesdames Ball, Barrie and Black. Mrs. Neave of the Pukehou branch, gave a very interesting exposition of the making of lamp-shades, the resultant articles being much admired. A vote of thanks was passed to the demonstrator. The Amusement Circle staged a charade entitled the “Fortune Teller,” and an item was rendered by the Musical Circle. In the “scone” competition, Mrs. Davies was awarded first place and Mrs. Germain second. The singing of the National Anthem closed a very enjoyable afternoon.
