OBITUARY
— MR. CHARLES HENRY NOEDL
There passed away in the Waipukurau Hospital this morning an old and highly respected resident of Waipukurau in the person of Mr. Charles Henry Noedl, widely known as an ex-railway guard. Some four years back the late Mr. Noedl underwent a serious operation in the Waipukurau Public Hospital and a year ago it became necessary for him to receive special medical attention at his home. Towards the end of March he found it necessary to again enter the hospital, displaying great fortitude in a very trying ordeal. Born in Wellington, the deceased, who was 52 years of age, w r as a son of Mr. Robert Chas. Noedl, whose death occurred a year back in Waipukurau. In September last he retired from the Railway Department’s service after some 30 years on the. staff, having been stationed at W’estport, Auckland, Dargaville, Whangarei, Frankton, Paeroa, Wanganui, Waifara, Palmerston North, Halcombe, Woodyille, and Waipukurau (eleven years). He took a keen interest in public and semi-public affairs, and was a member of the Foresters Order (Court Manawatu, Palmerston North). A few years ago he established a toy factory in Waipukurau and the articles produced revealed a high degree of skill. With the sorrowing vridow, and son (Lawrence), also other members of a large family circle, viz: two brothers, Robert and Lewis (Palmerston North), and five sisters, Mesdames M. Sowry (formerly of Waipukurau and now of Palmerston North), E. Ford (Nelson), B. Dew (Waitara), C. Nettleford (Dannevirke), and F. Harrison (Auckland), the sympathy of a wide circle of friends will be extended in their bereavement. Mrs. E. G. Dowrick, is a niece of the deceased.
The obsequies are to take place tomorrow leaving St. Mary’s Church for the Waipukurau cemetery at 3 P.m. : , .. ",
