RIOTS SPREADING
IN BOMBAY AREA
MILITARY FIRE ON SIGHT
By Telegraph—Copyright —Press Assn.
CALCUTTA, May 20.
There are no signs of abatement of Bombay's communal warfare. The city and mill areas are paralysed.
Thousands of Hindu workers, anxious to take revenge from Moslem atrocities in the city itself, are now engaged in guerrilla tactics against all Moslems in the suburbs. The police and military are now firing at sight of combatants, but their task is difficult.
Up to last night 132 had been killed and 1100 seriously injured. The Light Horse and an auxiliary force of artillery have been called out to aid the troops and police in coping with the rioters.
