Camp Life for Students
As the Government has not yet sanctioned the further cutting of bursaries and Training College allowances there are still only three Canterbury College students at the camping ground at Addington, says the Sun. It was stated by the organiser of the scheme, Air E. K. Cook, some time ago, that should allowances be cut again, many University and Training College people would migrate to Addington, where they would, live for about 10s a week during the college year. The three men who are living at the ground at present are finding the scheme both economical and satisfactory. Church Salaries It was announced at a meeting of the Auckland Presbytery that on account of the financial difficulties of several congregations, the ministers concerned had accepted reductions in their salaries. In some instances, it was stated, the collections were only about half what they were three years ago. Questions were asked whether . congregations were free to make any arrangement with the minister, and the acting-moderator replied that such was possible, but a report was required by the Presbytery. It was finally decided to refer all applications to the property and finance committee for report.
