FOOTPATH IMPROVEMENT

In Holyrood Terrace

REQUEST FROM SCHOOL

COMMITTEE

CONSIDERED BY BOROUGH COUNCIL

At the monthly meeting of the Waipukurau Borough Council, held last night, the following letter came forward from the Waipawa District High School Committee: —

“At the meeting of the School Committee held on May 6, I was instructed to write to you and stress the need for some improvement to be made in the Holyrood Terrace footpath. During the recent wet weather the path was too wet to be used by pedestrians and I would ask your council to give this matter early as well as generous attention.— W. W. Jamieson, secretary.

Cr. McCarthy said that he understood that Holyrood Terrace was on the schedule of work to be carried out by the council. The footpath had been constructed a year ago. Crs. Mackie and McCormick endorsed the statement of Cr. McCarthy.

The Mayor said that there was £l4B available for such work and on the motion of Cr. McCarthy, it was decided that the path be paved in concrete as in the case of other paving operations.

Inspector Gardner estimated that the work could be carried out for about £5O.
