COMMUNISTIC WRITINGS
WELLINGTON MEN ARRESTED ‘ 1 SEDITIOUS INTENTION’ ’ Richard Francis Griffin, a well-known Communist, was arrested in Saturday in Wellington by Detective N. Bayliss on a charge of “selling, or having in his possession for sale or distribution, a copy of “The Red Worker,” dated April 26. .1932, which document expresses a seditious intention and advises and encourages lawlessness and violence contrary to the War Regulations Act, 1914.”
Leslie Raymond McDowell was arrested on a similar charge.
Both men were brought before Mr E. Page, S.M., in the Police Court on Saturday afternoon and were remanded until May 18. Bail was allowed.
