TOLL OF THE MOTOR
Car Strikes a Power Pole. MAN AND WOMEN KILLED. SMASH NEAR WANGANUI. By Telegraph—Copyright—Press Assn. WANGANUI, Friday. Two people were killed and another seriously injured to-day, when a sedan car hit a power pole at the edge of a. wide, straight bitumen road in a "Wanganui suburb. The killed and injured are: — JEFFRIES, Huia, aged 22, married, with no family, of 130 Ghuznee Street, Wellington, driver of the car; killed. McCarthy, Mrs M., who was employed at the Victoria Hotel, Petonc; killed. ALOSKI, F., Ghuznee street, Wellington, serious head injuries, the actual extent of which is not' yet known, condition critical. JEFFRIES, Mrs Agnes, wife of the driver; broken arm and shock.. When the impact, occurred the right hand side of the car •-was practically ripped off. Then the car careered 150 yards tilong the street with the iron* wheel scraping the kerb. Those concerned were visitors to Wanganui, having just arrived from Wellington.
