Attention is drawn to the Railway department’s advertisement in this issue in respect of the alterations to train services on Anzaei Day. The annual general meeting of the Waipukurau Home and School League, will be held at the public school on Monday, April -Sth, at the conclusion of the annual meeting of householders when the annual report and statement . will be presented and the election of officers will take place. Cliff Porter is a member of the Behrampore team which is playing the Pirates Club at Napier this afternoon and Mark Nicholls, who is on a holiday visit to Napier, has consented to play for Pirates and will thus oppose his old skipper. The direction of sportsmen is drawn to an advertisement inserted by the Hawke’s Bay Acclimatisation Society notifying that the shooting season commences on May 30th anil closes on .June 30th. A list of the birds which it is permissible to shoot, and also the names of agents from whom licenses are obtainable are enumerated. Shootists arc also advised that not more than 15 grey ducks may be taken or killed by any one person in any one day. During the past few days the railway traffic has been very heavy and compares favourably with the number of passengers carried during the corresponding period last Easter. The mail train and relief express, both inward and outward were well filled on arrival at Waipukurau yesterday. The afternoon trains from Wellington were late in reaching Waipukurau owing to traffic congestion and a mishap at Palmerston LNorth.
