Wellington, May 20. The inquest concerning l the death of Katherine Theresa Chynowetb, the victim of the tram accident at j Kent Terrace last Wednesday night, was held yesterday. The evidence regarding the movements of deceased and her companions on Wednesday night was rather vagne, bat circumstances pointed to death being the result of pare accident, and a verdiot was returned accordingly. The motorman of the car concerned was commended for his prorapitude in bringing the car to a standstill. Mr P. S. Garvey, the chief of the Wellington gaol, is confined to bed with a Berious illness.

Dunedin, This day. At the inquest touching the death of William James Mears, railway shunter, who was killed by a truck passing over him while engaged in a flying ahunt in the railway yard, the evidence showed that Mears was trying to push waggons apart when his hand slipped and befell between the waggons, and four wheels passed over him. The jury returned a verdict that death was purely accidental, no blame being attachable to anyone. Ashburton, May 20. Charles Mclntyre, aged 20, was found dead in bed this morning at his residence in Green street. He was at work yesterday and was in his usual health when he went to bed. An inquest will be held tomorrow. Rotorua., May 19.

Arthur Hutchison, while out duck shooting on Sunday in the Waikato river near Waiotapu, was drowned while attempting to get a duck. Deceasd was 24 years of age. An inquest was held to-day, when a verdict of accidental death was returned. Hutchison was lately employed at the Waiotapu Hotel. Auckland, May 19. Leslie Arthur Young, aged five, was run over by a cart on Mt. Roskill road this morniug. The driver of the cart was apparently adjusting a sack and did not notice the boy crossing the road until he was almost on him. It was then too late, the wheel passing over the boy's neck and killing him almost in- \ stantly.
