WOODVILLE V. PAHIATUA. The tennis match Wood villa v. Pahiatua, played at Pahiatua on Saturday, resulted in a win for the latter by. 115 points. An enjoyable time was spent by the visitors, who were entertained at afternoon tea by the Pahiatua Club. Following are details of the scores : ladies’ doubles. P. W. The Woodville Public Library was established on lOthJFebruary 1879, so that at the time of its dissolution it had just, celebrated its silver jubilee. The local police made a good “ bag ” on Saturday afternoon, the bioby-hatoh being taxed to its utmost capacity. The town had been infested with three shady looking individuals during the morning and as they shewed no disposition to " move on,” they wore taken in charge. One was allowed out on his undertaking to put himself m the hands of the Salvarmy captain, and the other two stayed for the week end at ‘‘Cooler” villa. This morning they were convicted and discharged, with the usual caution to leave the town instanter. A peculiarity about one man was that ho was 6ft bin. in height, claimed to be a Life Guardsman, and an intimate friend of Captain Aunes, the tallest man in the British Army.
