LONDON MARKETS.

Wellington, June 29. The Department of Industries and Commerce received the following cablegram from the Agent-General dated London 27th June:— Retail business in mutton dull, but market firm at advance advised last week, and is being affected by expectation of light arrivals in future. The average price to-day is—Canterbury mutton, 3fd per lb; Dunedin and Southland and W.M.E. Co., 3fd ; other North Island B|d, River Plate 3id. Lamb—Market steady. Average price to-day for Canterbury brands 5Jd per lb; brands other than Canterbury sd. Beef Market dull. Average price to-day—Hindquarters New Zealand beef, 4|d , fores 2|d. ' Butter—Transactions in butter continue very limited and considerable quantities have been stored. Price to-day—N.Z. butter, 94s per owt; Danish butter, 103 a; Russian 87s; Argentine, 925. Cheese market—Quiet, at 63s per cwt.

On account of the high prices of hemp the market is dull. New Zealand hemp, good, fair Wellington grades on spot, nominally £B3 oer ton; July and August shipments £3O 10s. Cocksfoot market remains very flat at the values quoted last week.

HOMEBUSH SALES.

Sydney, June 27. At the Homebusb sales values were unchanged. Best wethers realised 21s to 26s ; good, 17s to 18s ; ewes, best, 19s to 24s 6d ; good, 16s 6d to 17s 6d. A consignment of New Zealand ewes realised 18s to 225. Best bullocks brought £ll 15s to £l3 2s 6d ; good, £lO 15s ; best cows realised £8 5s to £9 5s good, £7 5s ; best beef 29s cwt.

JOHNSONVILLE MARKET.

Messrs Freeman R. Jackson and Co., (in conjunction with Abraham & Williams, Ltd.) report on their Johnsonville sale as follows :—A small entry of bullocks of prime quality sold freely. Beef made 25s cwt; best quality up to 565. Best bullocks realised £9 15s to £10; others, £8 17s Gd to £9 12s 6d. There was an average entry of sheep, the bulk being only of medium quality. Competition was keen. Best wethers, 16s Id ; others, 14s 5d ; small, ditto, 13s 2d ; ewes, 15s 5d ; others, 13s 8d to 14a 9d ; rough ewes, 12s.
