Harvest Thanksgiving
The services of the Holy Trinity Church yesterday morning and evening were attended by very large con? gregationa, particularly in the evening, The Church was beautifully decorated with flowers, fruit and corn. The altar was decorated mainly with white flowers, a large white cross surmounting the whole. The Rev. J. C. Eceles was the preacher at the morning service, Mr S. Bolton readiug the lessons. At evensong, the Eev. Mr Spencer, of Wanganui, was the preacher, the Rev. J. C. Eceles conducting the service. Taking a a hig text, " Man phail not live"by bread alone, but by every work which proceedeth out of the month of God/' the preacher gave an interesting description of mission work, and the great harvest that was being carried on by the Church Mission Society throughout the world. He exhorted his hearers to prepare for the great harvest when Christ would come and garner in his own. | Miss Fawbert sang " Consider the lilies " as an offertorium. The offertory was in aid cf the Church Missionary Society.
