(Press Association.) ' Wellington, this day. Thy City Council have discussed tbs eppfoaEhing departure of the Governor, 'fhe Mayor moved a resolution appreciating the way Lord Onslow had discharged his duties, recognising the interest taken by him in the colony, and regretting his departure. Several Councillors attacked the Governor in resolute terms, accusing him of snubbing Wellington and associating with the people of Auckland and Christchurch because they toadied to bin]. He was twitted with having a sheep sent every week from Christchurch and getting a phaeton from Auckland. Lady Onslow was accused of insulting factory girls in Dunedin by inviting them to dance with French men-of-warsmen for ' whom hoc own servants were too good. Other Councillors strongly resented these attacks, and said it was only natural. the Governor should dislike a place where he had nearly lost his sbn. Eventually the motion was passed, Councillor Fetheriok alone dissenting.
