RABBIT BOARD.
At the meeting of the H.B. Babbit Board held at Waipukurau Messrs T. Crosse (chair), Waterhouse, A. and Lyons were present. Mr T. Crosse was elected chairman and treasurer. Mr Ormond wrote suggesting the erection of a fence along the back boundary and directing attention to the Native land behind the properties of Messrs Crosse, White, Mackersey, Bathbone and the writer.—Solicitor to be consulted re dealing with these lands. FINANCES. The balance-sheet for tie three past quarters showed that the Board was £ISOO in debt last year, but this year this would be reduced to £7OO. Beceipts were: rates £1284, subsidy £1263, total £2548. The chief items of expenditure were: salaries: inspectors £613, secretary £7l, returning officers £lO, wages linesmen and maintenance fence £663, erection gates £6, poison* ing £47, advertising £l7, stationery £9, The estimate for the six months ending April, 1892.wa5: revenue—cr. balance £129, outstanding rates £3, Resident Magistrate’s Gonrt fees £3, Government subsidy £25, overdraft £773, total £935. Expenditure—salaries £345, wages £BSO, election expenses £2O, stationery £4, sundries and maintenance £2OO, interest on overdraft £ls; total £935. inspectors’ reports. Inspector Quarty’s report referred to Whakarara, and it was decided to make a thorough inspection of the country towards the Euahines. Inspector Speedy reported favourably of decrease in Pa* tangata. FINIS. Sundry unimportant matters having been dealt with, it was decided not to ap* peal in Mr Ormond's case, and to hold the next meeting on the 2nd Wednesday in January, and the 2nd Wednesday in each Mbsequent month.
