RESIDENT MAGISTRATE'S COURT.
Monday, November 25. [Before J. C. Crawford, Esq., R.M.] DRUNKENNESS. Thomas McLusky, who made his appearance in tho dock in v. flannel under-shirt, considerably torn, was charged by police-sergeant Monaghan with being drunk on Saturday Might. Defendant pleaded guilty,, and was lined 5s and costs, or the usual penalty in defuult, Fred Gill was charged with having been drunk and in possession of a horse. Defendant admitted the charge of intoxication, but said he was taking the horso to a puadock. His Worship inflicted ti fine of 10s and costs, or in default* i'orfcy-eight hours imprisonment with hard labor. ASSAY l-T. Walter C Wilson, a police constable, appeared to a summons charging him with an assault upon v boy named James Marshall. The complainant stated that between six aud seven o'clock on the previous evening defendant came into the police station, caught hold of bim by tho arm, and hurt him, and afterwards pulled his ears; complainant gave no provocation. A witness deposed to the unprovoked nature of the assault. In defence, Wilson stated that he Avas irritated at the timo by some remarks the sergeant had addressed to him, and might have caught hold of the boy, bufc had no intention of hurting the lad. His Worship inflicted a line of 10s and costs. CIVIL. M. K. Samuels v Wiremu Pakatti — This action Avas brought, to recover tho sum of £20, for breach ot wurranty on account of tho sale of a horse. Judgment for defendant with costs. G. J. Squires v G. Kiisby— £l9 53 6d. Ad journcd until December 12. li. M. Cleland vW. Brodie— £9 17s 9d. Adjourned until Wednesday next. W. Turnbull v J. M. G. Lloyd and W. Wylie — Judgment for plaintiff by consent for the amount claimed and costs. W. Clark vE. Gell— £4 8s 4d. Judgment; for plaintiff for amount claimed and costs. Sume v J. Boavlcs — £2 13s lOd. Neither party were in attendance when the case was called on. D. Anderson vC. N. Hickling— £l '2s lOd. Adjourned till Thursday.
