Recent first-appointments to commisions include the name of Gerald It. B. Haszard, son of Mr and Mrs T. It. C. Haszard, of Beach Road, Waihi, Second-Lieutenant Haszard, who is attached to the mechanised forces, leaves to-day to rejoin 'his unit after having spent a few days at his home.
Mr T. G. Measures, who has been well-known in Waihi and district for a great number of years, and who now lives in Newmarket, Auckland, is spending a few days in the town, on a visit to his son, Mr Walter Measures, who was recently discharged from Waihi hospital after a long illness. Mr Measures, senr., who was a prominent member of the ' Waihi Federal Band, is now hon. instructor in drums to the Auckland Waterside Workers’ Junior Band. He will return home next Saturday.
