PROVISIONS OF AGREEMENT. (Per United Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Nov. 2. A full settlement has been arrived at between the Wellington country journalists and the employers in the Conciliation Council. The chief provisions are: Wages: Seniors £6 10s per week and a bonus of 10s per week; generals, £5 10s per week; juniors, £4i for the first year, and ,£5 thereafter; cadets, £1 15s for the first year, £2 15s for the second year, and £3 10s for the third year. Casuals are to be paid 12s 6d per half-day and £1 per day. Readers are not included in the term "journalist,” anff are to be paid-£4 for the first year and £4 10s thereafter, with 10 per cent, extra for night work. The grading was as follows:—One journalist, a general; two journalists, ono senior and one general; ffiree journalists, one of each; four journalists, one senior, two generals; five journalists, two seniors, two generals, und one junior. Cadets one to every three or - fractioh of three journalists. - Subeditors are in these grades. Two weeks’ holidays on full pay to be granted annually. Preference of promotion is to be given to journalists who have passed tho matriculation or an equivalent examination, and a test set by the Union in accurate reporting, paragraph writing, and interviewing. The agreement comes into force on November 15 for two years.
