AMUSEMENTS.

MUNICIPAL PARAMOUNT. Although big additions -were recently made to the Opera House, the building is proving quite inadequate for Saturday night demands, arising from the production of pictures Under municipal management. On Saturday night the huge auditorium was crammed full of interested patrons, despite the absence of tramcar services, to witness the excellent adaptation, of Chambers’ fine novel, “The Firing Line.” This is still another superb photd-play following up the good record of excellent programmes presented at the Opera House under municipal control. The cast is a strong one, and includes Miss Irene Castle as Sheila Cardross, and David Powell (already well known to Wanganui audiences) as Louis Malcourt. ‘‘The Firing Line” will be repeated to-night together with a strong supporting programme, including a Mack Sennett comedy, and an interesting magazine section. There should be another large audience tonight to see the second screening of the programme ushered in so auspiciously on Saturday night. THE GRAND. GLADYS COOPER IN “MY LADY’S DRESS.” Commencing for three nights, the management of the Grand will present to-night the famous London actress, Gladys Cooper, in “My Lady’s Dress,” from the jilay by Edward Knoblaugh, part author of “Milestones.” “My Lady’s Dress” was staged with tremendous success in London, and created a furore in the theatre world. As a picture it is even better than the stage production, as the plot lends itself to the vast possibilities of the screen which could not be presented in the same manner on any stage in the world. The Samuelson Film Company have given us a magnificent picture, which takes the whole evening to screen. The company are all English players of repute, and they provide perfect acting amidst .settings remarkable alike for their beauty and correct representation of several periods and countries in which the audience are taken to Italy, Holland, Siberia, and France. The supporting pictures will be Pathe’s latest Gazette. Intending patrons should go early or secure seats at Collier’s. EVERYBODY’S. THEDA BARA IN “THE FORBIDDEN PATH.” To-night at Everybody’s the star attraction will be Theda Bara in "The Forbidden Path,” in which she gives us one of the roles the public has learned to like so much. It is said that Miss Bara has never before risen to dramatic heights so far above the common level. The supports include Ray and Fair in “The House School Scandal,” a two-act comedy; Mutt and Jeff in amusing cartoons; and Fox’s World’s News.
