NEW SCALE OF CHANGES. TO OPERATE ON AUGUST 1. The Postmaster-General announces that the following alterations of postage and telegraph charges will come into' force on August Ist; Letters and letter-cards inland, from l)d for 4oz to 2d for 2oz; Australia, United Kingdom, United States, and certain other countries, from lid to 2d. Postcards, inland, from Id to IJd, Late fee from Id to 2d. Packets (comprising commercial papers, books, and printed papers, pattern and sample packets, and unregistered magazines), inland, from Id fo* the first 2oz and id for each additional 2oz, to l)-d for each 4oz up to 111). liegistered magazines, inland, Australia, Fiji, and certain other islands in tho Pacifie, new rates are 2d for each copy, if not exceeding Boz, and 2d for each additional Boz or fraction thereof. Newspapers, inland, from id to Id, Fee for registrationfrom 2d to 3d. Inland parcels, from 4id to Cd for the first pound. Fee for insurance on parcels, inland, 2d to 3d up to JE2. Private letter boxes from .£1 to <£l 10s per annum. Private mailbags ,£2 to ,£2 10s per annum. Money orders, new rates by post payable in New Zealand, Id for each LI with a minimum of 6d. Payable beyond Ncw .Zealand (except in Australia, United States of America and Canada), fid each ill. Payable in United States of America and Canada, 5d each 2s. By telegraph, payable in New Zealand, same as by post, pin; telegraph fee Is, 6d if sent by ordinary telegram, or 3s if sent by urgent telegram. Payable in United Kingdom, same as by post, plus cabling fee. Domestic orders, 9d each, including delivery fee. The postal notes new commission rate up to 2s fid is Id: 3s to 15s, 2d; 20j 3d. Inland ordinary telegrams, new rate® for weekdays, Is for the first 12 words and Id each additional word. Urgent telegrams, double rates Sundays and public holidays. Registration of code addresses, increase from 10s to ,£1 pier annum. The amendment of the charges fot telephone bureau communications and for telephone exchange connections will be announced later.
