MUNICIPAL DWELLINGS.

COUNCIL’S PROPOSALS,

_At the meeting of the Borough Council last night, the following report from the Housing Committee was adopted;—

Plans for Municipal Houses; The Committee has selected designs for 5 rooms and rooms; the designs of the fronts and verandahs to be varied as much as possible.

We recommend that the engineer be authorised to import all fittings and hardware required for the buildings, but that be be authorised to procure locally what may be required to complete any of the buildings if sufficiently advanced before arrival of the imported materials. The - Committee recommend that Messrs Bland and Knight’s system be adopted for the first 10 houses as a trial, and that they bo asked to vary their offer to enable this to be done.
