BOWLING
TARANAKI TOURNAMENT,
(Per United Preae Association.). NEW PLYMOUTH, January 26. The Taranaki Bowling Tournament opened this morning in perfect weather, after heavy rain on Saturday. There are 250 bowlers engaged, including rinks from Auckland, Wellington, Wanganui, Palmerston North, Marten, Dannevirke, Taihape and all provincial towns.
JUNIOR SHIELD MATCH,
GONVILLE V. WANGANUI.
A Junior Shield game was played on Saturday between teams representing Gonville and Wanganui. Owing to the steady rain in the morning a number of the selected players did not put in an appearance, and only five rinks on either side played, Gonville winning in the aggregate by 27 points. The following were the scores, Gonville players being mentioned first:—
