AUSTRALIAN JOCKEY CLUB. SCHEME FOR IMPROVEMENT AND CURTAILMENT OF RACING. Australian and N.Z Cable Association. SYDNEY, November 20. The Australian Jockey Club has submitted a scheme to the Government for the improvement and curtailment of racing. The club proposes to acacquire the Moorefield and Warwick Farm racecouses and reduce the fixtures to prevent clashing, thereby largely increasing prize money, attracting the best horses and removing the menace to legitimate sport which the present unlimited fixtures threatens. The clubs concerned have mutually agreed to accept reduction by eighteen pony meetings, fourteen metropolitan trots, and eighty provincial meetings. This leaves sxity-two registered horse meeting., fifty-four unregistered pony meetings, and twentysix trooting meetings in the metropolitan area, besides about fifty provincial meetings. The scheme requires Parliamentary sanction. SOUTH CANTERBURY RESULTS. (Per United Press Association.) TIMARU, November 20. The South Canterbury J.C. spring meeting opened in beautiful weather, enticing a largo crowd to the course. The totalisator bandied £17,546, against last year’s one day mooting £13,918 10s.
