GARRISON BAND. MUNICIPAL CONCERT. To-morrow afternoon the Garrison Band are giving one of their popular concerts on Durie Hill, in the vicinity of the flagstaff, commencing at 3 o’clock. Some very fine numbers are included in the programme, especially the selection from Verdi’s “Macbeth,” which is beautifully arranged, the euphonium solo being without doubt, one of the choicest given far a long time 'past. A cornet solo, “'The Garden of Happiness,” will be played by Mr Jas. McGrath with full band accompaniment, and will prove a most acceptable item. theTgrand. "INFATUATION” ON MONDAY. On Monday next, at the Grand, will be shown the Rathe super-feature, “Infatuation,” in .which Gaby Deslya takes the principal part. Constructed in six acts, it is described as a production of great magnificence, the mounting and costuming being most lavish. Included in the film play is a musical comedy which was specially played as an incident of the story. As there is expected to bo a great demand for seals, edrly booking is advisable. EYERYBODY’S. The attraction at Everybody’s Theatre next Monday will be “Riders of the Purple Sage,” portraying the eventful career of Lassiter, a noted Texas ranger. When Ms sister is kidnapped, by Mermans, he becomes Lassiter the Avenger —the terror of the Utah border. Eventually, after many thrilling adventures, he finds his sister’s grave and takes summary . vengeance upon the man who abducted her. The supports are attractive, and as crowded bouses are anticipated. every night, it will be wise to make early application at Upton’s for seats. “SOCIAL QUICKSANDS.” In “Social Quicksands,” a. Alette AllStar Series picture, which-will be shown at the popular Hia Majesty’s Theatre on Monday evening, the stars, Francis X. Bushman and Beverley Bayne, arc presented in most pleasing parte, Mr Bushman plays Warren Dexter, a young man who believes he is a woman-hater, with particular dislike for society butterflies. Miss Bayne is seen, as Phyllis Lfine, a brilliant “butterfly,” who wagers that she can change his ideas. How she wins her wager is revealed in scenes of thrilling action in which both of these favourite stare are very active. There are three splendid supporting pictures. Box plana for the three nights’ season are now open at Upton’s music warehouse. GRAND SHOW WEEK ATTRACTION. His Worship the Mayor, the Mayoress and the civic authorities, together with the president, vice-presidents, and members of the Wanganui Caledonian Society are giving their patronage to the monster Scottish gathering to be given by Mr R. D. Paterson in the local Opera House on Wednesday, November 19th. The proceeds (after expenses) will b© devoted' to the Mayor’s list in connection with the Tainui Disaster Fund. The booking for reserved seats has commenced, and promises well, and those already in possession of 2s tickets are strongly advised to visit Messrs H. I. Jones and Son’s and, book their seats without further delay. A very fine programme has been arranged and should appeal to and warrant the support of the Scotch community in Wanganui. A very large number of visitors will be in town for the Show, and many of these will no doubt be among the bumper house that is fully anticipated. The opening scene (particulars of which will be given later) promises to be something out of the ordinary, and success in this direction is confidently assured.
