AUSTRALIAN SOLDIERS' GRATUITIES.

It appeal's that Mr Hughes’ statement regarding the payment of soldiers’ gratuities in cash was made as the out; come of conferences with, financial institutions and promises by large employers that they were willing to take bonds and cash them. It is stated that the bulk of the soldiers realise that cash payment will mean a serious financial embarrassment to the Government, and are prepared to accept non-negotiabl© bonds. The Federal Treasurer is now negotiating with the bankers.
