WAR WORK.

During the last few wocks-lhe Wanganui Sub-centre of the N ./..-British Red Cross Society of St. John have, been specially fortunate regarding the raising of funds. With the view to further assisting the branch, the Fuller Proprietary (through their manager, Mr \V. Dunn) are putting on a grand patrioiic concert in the theatre on Sunday evening, April 22, commencing at 8.10. Mr Duiu is being assisted by an energetic committee. Both Wanganui’s Regimental Bands—the Wanganui Garrison and Queen Aleandra’s Own—have been invited to co-operatc. The Bands -will have the assistance of Fuller’s Premier Orchestra, and an effort is being made to obtain the services of as many instrument players as possible, and "it is estimated that over one hundred players will occupy the, stage. Lieutenant G. Buckley has kindly consented to conduct the massed orchestra, while Mr .Joseph Keardey will lead. Mr 11. Mose-iini, secretary of the Wellington Professional Orchestra, lias forwarded the entire orchestral parts of the grand overtuve , Solcmnell Selection, 1812, and this will be produced, in its entirety during the evening. 'The vocal portion of the programme is not in any way being overlooked, and the selection to lie submitted will, it i« assured, have heartv approval. It lias been arranged to hold two special practices in His Majesty’s Theatre on Apru 15 and 22, at 2 p.m. sharp, when Mr Dunn and the members of i be committee extend a cordial welcome to all who are desirous of doing their “bit” for the boys.
