THE CARNIVAL QUEEN.
There’s excitement in our town alright, The Carnival’s the theme, And all are asking day and night, Who’s going to be the Queen? It is not hard to make reply, For there’s a dusky belle. Whose'votes are scoring very high— She means to win it well. She’s known to Wanganui folk As one both brave and good, Her uncle, Major Kemp, bespoke Our love and gratitude. He fought for us and for our Queen, And now our turn has come To crown his niece our Gala Queen With sound of trump and drum.
