Mr Holman states that the dock will probably be able to complete the warships in two years, the percentage charge upon the total cost representing 7 or 8 per cent, upon the cost of material and labour. The dock has nearly completed -ne work of putting together the destroyer Warrego, to bo launched on Tuesday. SHIPWRIGHTS WANTED. Received March 31, 9.30 a.m. SYDNEY, March 31. The ’ superintendent at Cockatoo Island estimates that the cost of turning out the new warships will be over half a million. Dicv will require 3000 men to build them, but they arc not obtainable in Australia. They have got over 1000 shipwrights from England.
