DROUGHT IN KING COUNTRY.

BAD TIME FOR FARMERS. TE KUITI, March 23. The continued dry weather is having serious effects throughout the district. Feed is reported as becoming very scarce in all the outlying districts, with the exception of those along the coast, where a plentiful supply of grass is reported. The farmers who sowed grass seed after the rain at the end of last month with'hopes that more would follovv are suffering considerable loss owing to the seed having germinated on hot, damp ground, and perished for want of further moisture. Many will have to re-sow. The turnip crops ars again showing signs of the prolonged dryness. The milk cheques in the Pio Pio, Aria, and Ohnra districts will be considerably lower this month than during the corresponding month of last year. Only 2.85 in of rain have fallen.
