PARISH OF CHRIST CHURCH.

ANNUAL MEETING OF PARISH I ONERS. Archdeacon Jacob presided over a good attendance at the annual meeting- of parishioners of Christ Church.last evening. An account of the work of the church during the past year was given by Archdeacon Jacob, who commented on the unselfish and faithful way the various officials of the church had discharged their duties. The balance-sheet, showing a satisfactory financial position, was adopted. The following vestry was elected:— Messrs H. E. Dymock, Meldrum, Payne., Jhos. Price, Ashcroft, Notman, J. Randal Izard, T. E. Williams, and Dr. Hatherly. Mr D’Arcy was appointed vicar’s warden, and Mr S. J. Gordon parishioners’ warden for the ensuing year. Messrs Hardy and A. E. T. Nixon were appointed auditors. A resolution" of appreciation of the services rendered by Mr A. J. Bridgewater to the church was unanimously carried, and regret was expressed at his removal from Wanganui. The meeting instructed the vestry to take steps to have a private bill passed through Parliament empowering the leasing of half the church-acre. Archdeacon Jacob was'congratulated on his elevation to the dignity of Archdeacon. Ihe meeting then closed with the Benediction.
