WANGANUI ACCLIMATISATION SOCIETY.
The 48th annual meeting of the Wanganui Acclimatisation Society was hold in Freeman R. Jackson’s Rooms on Friday last. Mr H. J. Duigan acted as chairman.
The annual report and balance-sheet were adopted as published. The election of officers resulted as follows:—President, Mr T. A. Bamber; vice-president, Mr D. Boss; secretary and, treasurer, Mr E. N. Liffiton; committee, Messrs Jefferson, Bond. Prouse, F. W. Eboling, J. McDonald, J. T. Sinclair, J. Moore, Jas. Allison, U. J. Duigan, W. A. Izard, A. A. Sherriff, 0. H. Chavannes; delegate to conference, Mr E. N. Liffiton.
It was decided that the. society offer a reward of .£lO for the first conviction of anyone found shooting- imported game during the present dose season It was also decided that steps be tasen to have a number of members of the Society appointed as rangers- and fisheries officers. Gratification was expressed at the present condition of pheasants in the- dis--t'rict, but, the result of the Society’s efforts to stock the river with trout were reported as disappointing. Other matters of importance and interest to the, members of the society were discussed. Votes of thanks to the chair and to tho delegate for his services at the conference concluded an enthusiastic meeting.
